Yes. Most fine scratches, scuffs and hard water etching can be polished out of glass on site, without replacing the pane. Deep gouges that catch a fingernail are the exception. For shower screens, facades, balustrades and shopfronts in Dubai, restoration is usually faster and far cheaper than new glazing, and the result is optically clear again.
Why glass scratches and clouds in Dubai
Glass in the UAE takes a specific kind of punishment. Three causes account for most of the damage we see:
- Hard water. Dubai's mineral rich water leaves scale on shower screens and glass railings. Left to dry, it etches the surface and reads as permanent cloudiness.
- Sand and dust. Fine airborne sand is abrasive. Wiping a dusty pane with a dry cloth drags those particles across the surface and leaves a web of hairline scratches.
- Cleaning mistakes. Scrapers, the wrong pads and gritty cloths put scratches into the very surface people are trying to clean.
The good news: almost all of this lives in the top microns of the glass, which is exactly what professional restoration works on.
Polish out, or replace? How to tell
Run a fingernail across the mark. If your nail does not catch, it is a surface scratch or etching and is a strong candidate for polishing. If it catches in a deep line or chip, that spot may need more work or, rarely, a new pane.

| Time | Hours, on site | Days, with reorder |
| Disruption | Minimal, no removal | Dismantling and refitting |
